The Department of Health in England has commissioned NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) to revise their guidelines on supportive and palliative care in adults. A draft document, introduced during the consultation period, which ended on Friday 29th January,2016, missed out the section on Complementary Therapies. No statement has been released by the DoH for this omission, which is causing great concern among professional practitioners of complementary therapies and the general public. In raising an objection to the above and bringing a greater awareness of this critical situation, a petition by Professional Reflexology is running on change.org. A letter objecting to this omission will be sent to The Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt MP. Please sign and share this petition.

Join us for the March meeting of our monthly spiritual group in Crewkerne. Anyone who is interested in exploring the mysteries of life, developing their intuition and spiritual understanding in a safe and sacred space is most welcome. The evening will include an ‘Introduction to Mindfulness’ by Rose White, followed by an informal discussion and a chance for like minded people to socialise and network among friends.
Guest speaker Rose White is a trained Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher, living and working in south Somerset. As a teenager, Rose studied Meditation and has always been interested finding techniques to calm the mind and help manage stressful situations. Rose changed careers in 2016 to teach Mindfulness, having discovered its benefits and what happens to the minds of people, who regularly practice Mindfulness techniques. Often quoted as the answer to many modern day stresses, the beneficial neurological changes that occur, from a stressed mind to a less stressed one, are also evidenced in the results of scientific studies.
Rose’s ‘Introduction to Mindfulness’ will include a brief history on Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and a 20 minute Mindfulness practice. Rose will demonstrate how some easy short practices can help us respond better to stressful situations, giving us the practical tools to use daily and improving our self awareness. There will be time for questions and answers afterwards before refreshments are served.
